A Beginner’s Guide To Juicing !

When you think of a healthy drink, the first thing that comes to mind is probably juice or maybe a smoothie. If you are anything like me and not too keen for vegetables and fruits, juicing is the easiest way to get them in!

WHY SHOULD YOU JUICE?

Juicing was one of the incredible changes I made to my diet before my wedding. And I solemnly swear by it!

  1. Firstly, it’s a great way to get fruits and vegetables into your system. You also get a healthy mix of several vitamins and minerals. Nutritionists recommend that we get about 6-8 servings of vegetables and fruits every day and very few of us actually get that. Even if you do eat a lot of veggies and fruits, there is no way you can get about 3 to 4 vegetables and whole fruits into your system. Juicing just makes all of this a lot easier.
  2. Secondly, fruits and vegetables have valuable and sensitive micronutrients that can get easily damaged when they are cooked or processed. So even if you consume vegetables that are cooked, you aren’t quite receiving the whole deal of nutrients from them!
  3. Lastly, juicing helps your body absorb all the nutrients from the produce. It’s important to understand that most of us have impaired digestion as a result of making bad food choices over the years. So your body’s ability to absorb nutrients from your food is quite limited. That’s where juicing steps in! Juicing helps to ‘predigest’ the food for you, so you receive much of the nutrients rather than it simply going down the toilet.

Therefore I’m firmly convinced that juicing is the key to giving you a radiant and energetic life and of course keep you at optimal health levels.

CAN EVERYBODY JUICE?

Yes, juicing is for everybody. For those with diabetes, high blood pressure and a high cholesterol, they can certainly juice certain fruits and veggies but its best that they normalize their conditions before they put their heart and soul into juicing.

THE GROSSER, THE BETTER?

This is definitely a myth! You do not have to put something into your body just because it’s healthy. It’s very important to understand your body and give it what it needs while juicing. The juice does not have to make you nauseous to be effective, it can be really pleasant and tasty too! The taste of your juice depends on the combination of fruits and veggies you make.

SO IT’S A COMPLETE MEAL?

It is important to understand that the body needs a lot of nutrients to function properly and smoothly. Juicing removes the fiber content from the fruits and veggies and has very little protein and almost no fat in it. (That is why it is advised to add some of the juiced pulp back into the juice and then drink it up). It is basically just an additional method of getting extra nutrients into your body. I would say it is a better and safer option to taking food supplements. Taking food supplements does not mean, you don’t have a complete and proper meal right? Well that’s the way you should look at juicing too!

IS IT EFFECTIVE?

You will definitely notice a tremendous change in the way you feel and your energy levels. My skin was glowing and radiant. Basically I felt great and healthy! It is the effective change I made in my diet for better skin. To reap the juice’s full benefits, consume with 30 mins of making it. Otherwise the vitamins and minerals will lost to the air around it.

DO I NEED TO GET A FANCY JUICER?

Not at all necessary! A regular blender would work pretty well too.

IS IT NECESSARY FOR ME?

Just like being healthy is a way of life, juicing is a way of life too! Who wouldn’t want to reap maximum benefits from the food they eat? Juicing definitely has more benefits than from any particular diet!

SO HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Start with this really easy and tasty juicing combination.

Make sure the veggies are fresh, peeled and washed properly. Also the lemon juice cancels out the bitterness of certain veggies. Plus the apple juice is super yummy ! Give this recipe a try 🙂 Hope you like this one 😀
